Today the Livingstone Victoria Falls volunteers were in Simoonga township about 20km outside the mighty magnificent Victoria Falls. The volunteers had an interactive session on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights. The 15 youths exchanged knowledge on how they can protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. They also discussed some of the myths around SRHR which included “Girls are not allowed to put salt in the food they prepare during their menstruation period because family members who will eat the food will all have a cough” . To understand the cultural interpretation of this myth, please follow us in our next session next month.
